What do you enjoy most about work?

I enjoy building relationships with my students and many of them I have been teaching for several years, so it’s really cool seeing them grow over the years and having an influence on their lives.

What is a challenge or difficulty you face at work?

I work with both locals and expats, and it is hard to fully understand or belong to either of these cultures as a Canto speaker. This makes it hard to build deep relationships with my coworkers.

How do you see that the Gospel is or could be transforming your sphere, industry or workplace?

I would love to see the Gospel reach the field of education and helping students and educators see their God-given potential. Especially in a competitive city like Hong Kong, I hope that kids can grow up knowing their identity is not in the things they can accomplish and that they are loved for who they are.

How do you think you or others in your field can shine the light of Christ in your sphere?

For educators, I believe shining Christ’s light through love, compassion and patience and perseverance can leave a lasting impact on children. When we believe in what God can do and that children and those we are surrounded by are created in God’s image, it can empower us to do what we are called to faithfully even when there are challenges.

What is one piece of advice you would give to those that will enter the workplace in the future?

Our career is not our purpose and it is a journey of faith in discovering what God’s purpose is for us.
