What do you enjoy most about your work?

I’m currently taking a gap year which I’m trying out different kinds of work with regards to the media and the education sector. In different job opportunities, I enjoy getting to know people, observing them. Especially when tutoring kids, apart from teaching them, I enjoy little moments when we listen and share our stories with each other.

What is a challenge or difficulty you face at work?

The hardest thing is to remember what my core motives in the midst of busyness. Especially when I’m preoccupied with tasks and mundane chores, it would be a struggle for me to not make everything about myself and to even be aware and care for people around me.

How do you see that the Gospel is or could be transforming your workplace?

When teaching the kids, I can see how their value is very much based on their achievements and how their peer see them, it breaks my heart but at the same time motivates me to speak about the gospel over them, letting them know that their true identity depends on how God sees them, but not the label they got from others.

What is one piece of advice you would give to those that will enter the workplace in the future?

Focus on the present, be present to your coworkers, family and people around you, that’s all you can do for now because who knows what may happen tomorrow? All we know is that God promises that He is in control. You may feel discouraged in where you are at or who you think you are, keep fighting with your kneels on the ground and trust that God who started a good work in us will continue to refine us for his purpose!
