What do you enjoy most about work?

We are developing IoT solution that improves the environmental sustainability for wastewater management. To achieve that, we need to strive for excellence with an eternal mindset. We need to remind ourselves why we are doing what we are doing daily. I really enjoy my work because it is purpose-driven.

What is a challenge or difficulty you face at work?

Our business model is going against the pattern of the mainstream which focuses on the short-term win. We are trying to add value to the things (wastewater) that seem to have no value to society. Our work is beyond building better engineering design, but also to educate the public and alert the policymaker to tackle the potential problems of poor waste-water management. It is difficult to have an eternal mindset in this finite world.

How do you see that the Gospel is or could be transforming your sphere, industry or workplace?

Proverbs 3:5-6 [Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.] It was not easy to do start-up and worked on some utopian ideas in this world filled with fear. However, God often send us mentors, connections, and sufficient resources to do His works at His perfect timing. We will never accomplish anything good on our own, but God always does and He never fails.

How do you think you or others in your field can shine the light of Christ in your sphere?

Our innovative solution is diligently designed and it aims to improve the environmental sustainability of the world. People might wonder why we invest so much time and effort to do such low-profit projects, which we eventually hope to bless the mankind in the long-run. Our integrity, eternal mindset, and faith will shine the light of Christ in our sphere.

What is one piece of advice you would give to those that will enter the workplace in the future?

“Yes, it is very difficult to go against the pattern of the world – to do the right things all the time. It is very difficult to not measure up to your peers, to your families’ expectation or the world. But please memorize and meditate these two verses: Matt 6:33 [Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.] and 2 Cor 12:9 [But he said to me, “”My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.]

Remember that we are wicked and sinful like the rest of the world, but since we accepted Christ as our savior. He will appoint his disciples to do His miraculous works in His name. Praise God for our salutation which the world cannot offer. Before the time comes, let’s live for His glory only and together.”
